Kaanana – All India Edition

Kaanana is a Kannada-language magazine published monthly. It is dedicated to spreading awareness about nature and wildlife and the need for its conservation. It is published by the Wildlife Conservation Group (WCG), which is promoted by the Ramakrishna Mission. The Kaanana magazine was launched in November 2010 by WCG. It publishes the latest discoveries and observations of the group and also gives interesting articles on nature, wildlife, ecology and science. Beside these, it features stories and poems related to the field written by students of the villages of Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) and also accepts contributions from its readers. It is also known for the stunning images it publishes, taken by the observers, researchers and scientists associated with the group. The magazine?s promoter, the Wildlife Conservation Group is a self-sustained body of about a dozen nature enthusiasts, many of whom are younger than 30 years of age. These members come from the BNP region of Karnataka and are thoroughly aware of the forest area, its flora and fauna. The magazine is available online as well in a digital edition, which can be read from anywhere across the globe. As of 2015, the Kaanana e-magazine had around 300 regular subscribers, and the number has since been on the rise, constantly gaining popularity among the environmentally conscious youth of today. Conservationists and wildlife enthusiasts from all over the country read the magazine as well as the e-magazine to stay updated with the findings of the WCG research team and get enlightened by the intriguing articles it features about science, nature and wildlife.
