The Pioneer – Dehradun Edition

The Pioneer is an English-language daily published primarily from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It was founded in Allahabad in 1865 by George Allen, an Englishman who had had great success in the tea business in North-East India in the previous decade. Later, it was sold to a syndicate and moved from Allahabad to Lucknow during the 1990s at which time it was purchased by the Thapar Group under L.M. Thapar who made it a nationalized newspaper. Hence, till this day, it is published from Delhi, Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Ranchi. Its Chief Editor is Chandan Mithra and its Lucknow edition itself includes includes four other editions namely from Varanasi, Kanpur, Allahabad and Lucknow. In 2010, The Pioneer also started its Hindi edition of the newspaper for the Hindi speaking population of the country. It covers news and stories ranging from politics to lifestyle. It also caters to the young crowd with crossword and many other puzzles, comic strips and interesting scientific facts. It stays abreast with news from Bollywood and Hollywood.
