Namma Tumakuru

Firstly, I’m very proud of my place which is also the place where I had been brought up, that is Tumakuru. I love to be in my place whether it’s developed or not. But still, I want to see Tumakuru in the highest position beyond all the circumstances and the problems. So the Government of Karnataka has declared Tumakuru as “the Smart City” and is working for its progress.

The name “Tumakuru” has been given for the presence of the flower “Tumbe” in a large quantity. As years passed on the city was called “Tumkur” and now it’s called Tumakuru.

Tumakuru has many historical and interesting places in and around it. For instance, Siddaganga Mutt, Devarayana Durga hills, Namada Chilume, the monolithic hill of Madhugiri, Pavagada tank etc. Tumakuru is known as “Kalpataru Naadu” because of the presence of coconut trees abundantly. It is also known as the “Shaikshanika Nagara” which means “the City of Education” for the presence of the best colleges like Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Shree Devi Medical colleges and the beautiful Tumakuru University.

As I said, Tumakuru is declared as the Smart City, many works are going on successfully, such as the constructions of buildings, roads, complex, introducing the supply of  of LPG, water through pipelines proper management of UGD system and other things, improving the public properties such as libraries, hospitals, schools, colleges, introducing the Digital Library for the students is an amazing work which helps to dip in the ocean of knowledge and to be educated. This digital library is an excellent and challenging idea that has succeeded through its work towards progress.  Opportunities are being created for the growth of knowledge. The campus of SIT, SSIT have made a situation in which there is a very large exposure to many different fields. The presence of Shree Shree Shree Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt, who is known the “Walking God” and “Trividha Dasohi” had made this city as a sacred one. The construction of the glasshouse also has added beauty to the city.

Because of all these things, it has made me feel special and proud of being in such a place which has a unique history and being a part of my city, “Tumakuru”
